The front of the residence faces north, and the back has southern light filtered by a tall canopy from a neighboring property. This borrowed view includes a 125+ year-old Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia), which received city landmark status in 2007, and a 40+ year-old Canary Island Palm (Phoenix canariensis).
